Third Annual Strangebrewary Meeting

The Third Annual Strangebrewary meeting is Sunday February 21st from 1-6pm and will take place west of Silverdale. Have fun and brew up something that is unusual. We will be voting for Strangest homebrew and Tastiest homebrew - so brewers, please bring at least a growler or 3 22oz bottles (or the equivalent). Label the brews with your name and the name of the brew. Club members who don't brew may bring a commercial brew to share and any other homebrew is welcomed while we wait for everyone to arrive. Then we start tasting the strange brews about 2pm, take notes and then vote. Will announce the winner about 5pm. As we did last year-wear your best beer related clothing, hats and accessories. This is also a potluck with plenty of room for crockpots and such. Don't forget your taster glass. There is a rental fee and we will be taking donations to cover the cost.

Our first Wood Fest is Saturday March 19th from Noon-6pm at the Silver City Brewery and Taproom, in the brewery. Please bring your homebrews that have been aged on wood chips or spirals or even in a barrel. We will be voting for best Wood-Aged Brew - so brewers, please bring at least a growler or 3 22oz bottles (or the equivalent). While we wait for everyone to arrive - we can share other homebrews or purchase Silver City beers. Then we start tasting the wood-aged brews, take notes and vote. A brewer from Silver City will also be joining us and selecting a beer of their choice to brew up on their pilot system and then be served in the Taproom. Brewers may want to bring information sheets and please mark your bottles with your name and your brew. This is also a potluck with plenty of outlets for crockpots or warming trays. Don't forget your taster glass. Silver City Brewery and Taproom is a 21 and older establishment.

Our annual Cask Fest is Saturday April 16th from 11am-5pm at McCloud's Grillhouse in East Bremerton. Last year was a wonderful event with 10 homebrewers bringing a wide variety of cask-conditioned ales and a cider and many unique ways of serving them. Start your research on Real Ales and have fun with it. May 7th is Big Brew at the McKenzie's. Jim and Nancy will be hosting for the first time a June Meeting on Sunday June 19th in the Gamblewood area. July is Beerstock 5060-7. August is hosted by Oggie. September is hosted by Curt and Diane. Oktoberfest is at Silver City Brewery and Taproom. Tim will host November and will John host December again?

Other news: On March 5th is the first year of the PNW Homebrewer's Conference in Vancouver, WA with a tasting being held from 7-11:30pm. Our club President Lou will be attending and if he likes what he sees-maybe the club will have a booth next year. This year the WSB plan on attending Beerstock 5060-7 in Orting, WA in July (date yet to be announced). Will send out a separate Newsletter with all the info. In May 2017 the WSB will celebrate it's 25th anniversary and we are starting our planning now.

It will be a Chili November WSB Meeting on Saturday November 14th from 2-7pm. It will be hosted by Tim and Caroline at their place in Silverdale. Bring your homebrews and commercial brews, your favorite chili or side dishes to share, and your taster glass. The meeting will take place in their heated garage, next to the kitchen-so bring the chili in crockpots or in a pot which can be warmed on the stove. More info is in the WSB Newsletter emailed out 10/22.

Reminder that Silver City Brewery will be choosing a wood-aged homebrew from our WSB Wood Fest on March 19th, 2016 to brew up on their pilot system. Use chips, spirals or a wood barrel if you have one. Good luck!
