Teach a Friend to Homebrew

The West Sound Brewers will be having the American Homebrewer's Association annual event "Teach a Friend to Homebrew" on Saturday November 2nd. It will be hosted by Curt and Diane at their place in Illahee in Curt's Social Club (garage). It will start at 10am and Curt will be demonstrating a mix of grain and extract brewing from start to finish. The recipe will be the White House Honey Ale. Please bring homebrews and snacks to share. Details are in the upcoming Newsletter. The WSB is looking forward to seeing new homebrewers at this event.
The November Meeting is scheduled for Friday Nov. 15th in the evening at Don and Sarah's place in Eglon.

Capitol Hill Pub Crawl

The West Sound Brewers are organizing a Capitol Hill Pub Crawl for Saturday October 5th, in place of a meeting for the month. We will meet in the ferry building on the Seattle side about 12:15pm. We will then take the #12 bus to Elysian Brewpub for lunch. We will then walk to Von Trapp's, Quinn's, McMenamin's, The Pine Box, Bravehorse Tavern, The Wurst Place and Stumbling Monk. Details are in the next Newsletter to be emailed soon.

September Meeting

The September meeting will be at Curt and Diane's place in Illahee on Friday September 6th from 5-10pm on their back deck. The theme will be Octoberfest/Fall brews. Please bring your homebrews, taster glass and food to share. There will be a grill available.
The October meeting will be a Capitol Hill Pub Crawl in Seattle on Saturday October 5th. We will be visiting Elysian Brewery, Von Trapp's bier hall, McMenamin's Six Arms Brewery, The Pine Box pub, The Bravehorse Tavern and The Wurst Place. Another option is The Stumbling Monk pub. Near the ferry is Pike Brewery and The Pioneer Saloon.
A few members of the club would like to have a version of a stange brew fest - maybe in February. No style guidelines. Start thinking of - or brewing up those crazy concoctions you always wanted to make.
The club will also be organizing a Homebrew Competition next year for June.

August Meeting

Oops, forgot to post information for the July meeting that was at Kent and Lori's. It was posted on Facebook.
The August Meeting will be at Wendy and Oggie's in Erland's Point on Saturday the 10th from 4-9pm. It will be their Third Annual Garden Party. The homebrew and beer theme is Strange and/or Favorite Beers. Root beer and a cider will also be available on tap. There will be smoked brisket and on the grill will be hamburgers and hotdogs - or bring other meats, veggies or fruit to grill - or other potluck dish. Remember to bring your tasting glass. Parking is limited, so please carpool.

June Meeting

The June WSB meeting will be this Friday, June 21st at Darryl and Andrea's place near Poulsbo starting at 7pm out on their deck overlooking Liberty Bay. The theme is lagers. There will be a grill available and please bring food to share. Details were in the last Newsletter. Will be discussing the upcoming Beerstock event in Orting. If you would like to attend Beerstock, please bring a $15 donation so we can get that mailed in to the organizers. Information on Beerstock was mailed out a couple of days ago.
The July meeting is scheduled for Sat. July 27th at Kent and Lori's near The Fairgrounds.

May Meeting

The May WSB meeting will be Saturday May 25th at Mike and Ilene's place in Brownsville/Gilberton area. From 2-10pm on the back patio along the waterfront. Bring homebrews or spring/summer ales and lagers. There will be a grill available for cooking. More info is in the May Newsletter. The June Meeting is scheduled for Fri. June 21st at Darryl and Andrea's place near Poulsbo.

Big Brew!

Big Brew is Saturday May 4th starting at 9:30am at Marti and Ernie's place. The worldwide toast to homebrewing is at 10am. Looks like good weather to set up the brewing systems. You can use the recipes on the AHA site or brew your own style. Parking on the upper driveway will be for the brewers-more parking on the street. Bring homebrews, commercial beers and food to share, bottled water and taster glasses. Maybe some chairs. Details were in the last Newsletter.

April Meeting

The April WSB Meeting is scheduled for Friday April 19th starting at 4pm at Jack's house in Brownsville. Big Brew is Saturday May 4th starting at 9:30am. The Newsletter with the info will be sent out soon.

March WSB Meeting

The Next WSB meeting will be Thursday March 21st at Ernie and Marti's home starting at 6pm thru 10pm. Bring your homebrews, taster glass, bottled water and snacks to share. Fruit beers/ciders/meads will be the theme for commercial bottles. Details are in the last Newsletter.

Meet Brewmaster Don Spencer at Four Corners Tavern

Did you ever want to chat with the very first President of the West Sound Brewers? Brewmaster Don Spencer was the first President of the WSB and he will be at Skelley's Four Corners Tavern for Brewer's Night featuring Silver City Brewery. On Friday March 1st from 5-8pm. Four Corners Tavern is at 28071 State Highway 3 NE - at the intersection of Hwy 3 and Big Valley Road.

Saturday March 2nd is the Second Anniversary of American Brewing in Edmonds 1-11pm. Walking distance from the Edmonds ferry dock. Also check out Gallagher's Where U Brew in the same complex.

Monday March 11th at Latona Pub in Seattle will be a Sound Brewery Dinner and later in the evening is Brewer's Night with Sound Brewery. Latona Pub is what Latona IPA is named after.

Sunday March 17th is the Poulsbo Beer Run.
